Do you have what it takes?

La Verne Fire Explorer Post 61 is looking for enthusiastic candidates that want to explore a career in the fire service.  The purpose of this program is to teach young individuals accountability, responsibility and how to better service their community.  All candidates must be between the ages of 15 to 21 and they must maintain a 2.0 GPA.  Contact Battalion Chief Sam Dominick via email at trainingcaptain@lavernefire.org.

When available, complete an interest application and mail to the Explorer Post 61 Coordinator listed above or delivered to Fire Station 1- 2061 Third Street, La Verne.

What does Explorer Post 61 offer?

Job Skills
All candidates have the opportunity to obtain the necessary skills to pursue a career in a professional field.  All candidates are subjected to a testing process similar to the full-time firefighters (i.e. interview and physical agility test)

Training Opportunity
Explorers are given the opportunity to learn job skills in firefighting, such as; personal protective equipment, tool recognition, forcible entry, ropes and knots, salvage and overhaul, and introduction to ventilation.

Explorers are also involved in community events, such as; pancake breakfasts, fire department open house, car wash fundraisers, the City of La Verne’s July 4th Firework Show and La Verne’s Christmas morning event
