CPR Classes

The La Verne Fire Department is an American Heart Association Community Training Center. We offer the following Basic Life Support CPR classes:

  • BLS for Healthcare Provider
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider- online renewal (Skills)
  • Heartsaver CPR
  • Heartsaver AED (Automatic External Defibrillating)
  • Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED

Healthcare Provider Course

This course is for members of the healthcare community or those in school for healthcare related fields. The class length is approximately 4 - 6 hours. An AHA Healthcare provider card is issued upon successful completion of the class and is valid for two years. Course Fee is $65.00 per person. Five or more people must be signed up in order to hold class.

Healthcare Provider Renewal Courses

The Healthcare Provider Renewal process can completed in one of two ways.

  • Complete a standard in-class renewal.The course length is 3 hours, and the course fee is $55.00 per person. Five or more people must be signed up in order to hold in-class renewal.   

  • Complete an online renewal with the American Heart Association. In the tabs at the top of the website, select CPR & ECC, then select Healthcare Providers. The online portion can be saved and completed at your own pace. Once completed, you will be issued a certificate of completion. You can then complete the skills portion of the course with us, which takes approximately 1 hour. The course fee is $25.00 per person for skills testing (payable to City of La Verne), plus $28.50 (payable to the American Heart Association) for the online portion.

Heartsaver CPR and Heartsaver AED Courses

Heartsaver CPR is intended for the lay responder, teachers, day care providers, and for persons whose employer requires basic CPR training. Heartsaver CPR will teach you the mechanics of cardio pulmonary resuscitation and treatment of an obstructed airway in adults, children and infants. The Heartsaver AED class also covers the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.

  • For the in-class course, a Heartsaver CPR Manual will be provided. A certificate is issued following passage of the written and skills examination. The certificate is valid for two years from the date of issue. The program length is approximately 4-6 hours. Course Fee is $45.00 per person. Five or more people must be signed up in order to hold in-class course.
  • Complete an online course or renewal with the American Heart Association. In the tabs at the top of the website, select CPR & ECC, then select Corporate Training. The online portion can be saved and completed at your own pace. Once completed, you will be issued a certificate of completion. You can then complete the skills portion of the course with us, which takes approximately 1 hour. The course fee is $25.00 per person for skills testing (payable to City of La Verne), plus $25.50 (payable to the American Heart Association) for the online portion.

Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED

This class covers all the components of the Heartsaver CPR Course, and adds basic first aid training. This class is designed for businesses or individuals responsible to respond to first aid or cardiac emergencies due to job requirements of regulatory responsibilities.

  • The in-class Course Fee is $85.00 per person. Five or more people must be signed up in order to hold in-class course.
  • Complete an online course or renewal with the American Heart Association.  In the tabs at the top of the website, select CPR & ECC, then select Corporate Training. The online portion can be saved and completed at your own pace. Once completed, you will be issued a certificate of completion. You can then complete the skills portion of the course with us, which takes approximately 1 hour. The course fee is $25.00 per person for skills testing (payable to City of La Verne), plus $44.00 (payable to the American Heart Association) for the online portion.
