Defensible Space

Before Fires Occur, You Should:

* Cut grasses so they are no more than 3 inches high.
* Limb up trees to 10 feet above the ground or, for shorter trees, 1/3 the overall height of the tree.
* Trim trees 10 to 15 feet away from your chimney.
* Space trees and shrubs 10 to 15 apart and prune away dead or dying branches or plants.
* Remove ALL junipers and bamboo from within 30 feet of your house NOW.

Contact Fire Prevention for more information.

Don't Rely on Your Cell Phone in a Fire Emergency

When you dial 9-1-1 on your cellular telephone, the call may not go directly to the local fire or police station. In many areas, 9-1-1 calls are answered by the California Highway Patrol. It doesn't matter if you are driving on the freeway or parked just outside a fire station.
