The La Verne Fire Department's Fire Prevention Bureau conducts business inspections and plan review, based on the 2007 California Fire Code. The bureau also investigates fires and coordinates public education regarding fire and life safety.
Businesses in the City of La Verne are inspected annually to ensure compliance with City and State fire & life safety regulations. The majority of inspections are conducted by engine company personnel. Other businesses with a high life hazard are inspected by the Fire Prevention Bureau staff. Fire Department permits to conduct certain activities outlined in the California Fire Code are issued through this program.
The Fire Marshal and Deputy Fire Marshal coordinate the Fire Safety Plan Review of all buildings and development projects and construction inspections. All plan permits originate at City Hall. For more information, contact the Community Development Department.
On-duty personnel provide safety education to residents and businesses including smoke detector and fire extinguisher awareness, Swimming Pool Safety, Stop, Drop and Roll, and Exit Drills in the Home (EDITH).
