The La Verne Fire Department Explorer Program is designed for young adults from 15 to 21 years of age who are interested in learning about a career in the Fire Service. The program is a joint venture with Learning for Life. In addition to learning about the Fire Service, the Explorer Program's primary goal is to provide young adults with a sense of self-respect and responsibility to their community through service related activities.

The La Verne Fire Department sponsors Explorer Post 61 out of its three fire stations. The Post's headquarters station is located at 2061 Third Street. Post size is limited to 20 Explorers and is led by an Explorer Post Advisor who is a Professional Firefighter/Paramedic.

Each Explorer applicant must successfully pass a physical agility entry exam prior entering the post. As a La Verne Fire Department Explorer, you will be trained by Professional Firefighters and Apprentice Firefighters in such topics as fire fighting skills, hose lay evolutions, ladder techniques, ropes and knots, salvage and overhaul, wildland fire fighting procedures, self contained breathing apparatus, emergency medical techniques, tools and equipment, and other related subjects.

If the La Verne Fire Department Explorer Program sounds like something you are interested in, please feel free to download and complete an application and submit it to Fire Station 1, or email it to the Post Advisor, Firefighter Kyle Diaz at kdiaz@lavernefire.org.
